Our Youth Board raised their voices last night, in word and song at their" Rock Out Against Smoking Concert". They addressed the issues of the dangers of smoking and spoke out against the Tobacco industry targeting them as replacement smokers. It was an amazing night of wonderful performances ~ Everyone take a bow ~ Encore !!

 Co-Chair, the Honorable Alan L. Lebowitz , Rachel Volpe, Eddie Dixon and Chairperson John Elder, welcomed golfers to  "take a swing at heart disease " at our 8th Annual Golf Classic. The event was in memory of the Honorable Peter Cusick.

 “By increasing public awareness, training large groups of island residents in CPR, and placing AEDs in many accessible places, we anticipate that we will lower the percentage of victims to sudden cardiac arrest on Staten Island,” said Elder.

 “This golf outing, now in its eighth year, is thanks to the passion of John Elder – passion for both golf and heart health,” said Rachel Volpe, R.N., Director of Operations at the Heart Society. “And its past success has been the direct result of the dedication of my predecessor and friend, the late Donna Boulanger Dixon.”

The Staten Island Heart Society hosted its 7th Annual Wine Festival on Tuesday,
June 7 from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. at the Vanderbilt, South Beach. The event featured over 150 wines from around the world, a silent auction, raffles, music and wine education.

 The event was presented by Aida’s World of Liquors, and co-chaired by Board Members, Linda Carroll and Kathleen Lafferty, R.N.

 Tuesday, March 1, 2011, The Staten Island Heart Society hosted its annual Mardi Gras-themed benefit – The Chefs' Extravaganza. The event  honored the memory of our " Our Heart and Soul ",  Executive Director, Donna Boulanger Dixon.  The chairs for this event were Salvatore Volpe, M.D.,  Rachel Volpe, R.N., Kathleen Lafferty, R.N. Honorary chairs are Anthony Ferreri, CEO, Staten Island University Hospital and Richard Murphy, CEO, Richmond University Medical Center.Restaurant Chairs: Jane Milza and Gene Lucarini .
